Along with announcing the launch of new Eero Mesh Wi-Fi and Fire TV devices, today’s Amazon event also brought news of an updated Fire TV experience, including a redesigned main menu and more personalization.
On the main menu, you’ll be able to scroll through your apps
for a preview of your content and go directly to your favorite shows and movies
on the streaming services you subscribe to. By pinning apps on your menu, you’ll
be able to quickly find exactly what you’re looking for.
To personalize your user experience, Amazon will allow up to
six profiles. Each profile will allow personalized recommendations, unique
viewing history, watch lists, settings preferences, and more. Kids profiles can
easily be set up with Amazon Kids, giving parents peace of mind and giving kids
access to age appropriate content.
Finally, Amazon is making Alexa even more useful for Fire TV
users. With a new Alexa Explore feature, you can check out new recipes, catch up
on the news, keep an eye on you stocks, and more with voice controls. You can
also opt-in to Alexa Voice Profile, allowing Alexa to recognize your voice and
take you to your profile with the voice command “Alexa, switch to my profile.”
The new Fire TV experience will be part of the next gen Fire
TV Stick and new Fire TV Stick Lite at launch and will come to additional
devices through early next year.
