Courtesy of DreamWorks, Walt Disney and a few well-known others, there is plenty of animated competition out there for the classic family favourites. But today, we want to celebrate the family classics and the actors that made them great.
Here’s a list of live action (non-animated) films that everyone will love. Prepare to have your nostalgia triggered. Happy International Family Day!
Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)
Arguably, one of Robin Williams’ most memorable performances. Disguised as a nanny for his own kids, Mrs. Doubtfire becomes the heart of the household… whilst smashing her face into cake and setting herself on fire.
There wasn’t a 90’s kid that didn’t fear the dreadful Miss Trunchbull. The classic chocolate cake scene will forever haunt us.
Nutty Professor (1996)
The famous Klump family (almost entirely played by Eddie Murphy) will always have a special place in our hearts. A hilariously disastrous outcome of a rejuvenation experiment that leaves Sherman fighting with his alter ego.
The Parent Trap (1998)
Annie and Hallie, the twin girls played by Lindsey Lohan and Lindsey Lohan, was one of the many things that made the 90’s, and Lindsey Lohan, great. It’s hard to believe that there might be someone out there that hasn’t seen this classic.
Big Momma’s House (2000)
Who needs the FBI when you’ve got Big Momma? On a mission to set things straight in a troubled house, a few kids on the loose and a duo of confused parents, Martin Lawrence in disguise is here to help. A cocktail of hilarious events that will be sure to make you laugh out loud.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
A classic remade by the fantasy dream-team that is Tim Burton, Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp. Indulge in the dream world of Willy Wonka and his world of never-melting ice cream, never-ending candy and never-losing-flavour chewing gum.
