HBO Max is no longer available through Amazon Prime Channels. The channel’s landing page now says “This page is temporarily unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask that you try again later.”
Fire TV users do still have access to HBO Max – the standalone app is available on Fire TV devices and users can sign in with their Prime Video credentials or can create a new subscription directly through the HBO Max app.
HBO also removed its channel from Apple TV Channels two weeks ago, notifying customers that they would need to switch to HBO Max to continue watching HBO content.
Removing HBO Max from Amazon Prime Video Channels was always part of the plan, as we found out when the agreement to bring the HBO Max app to Fire TV devices was made last year.
HBO came to Fire TV devices in November 2020, with the HBO app
automatically updating to become HBO Max.
“We’ve worked closely with HBO for many years to bring their great content to Fire TV and to make it easier to discover and enjoy with features like search integration, Alexa and personalized recommendations,” said Marc Whitten, Vice President of Amazon Entertainment Devices and Services in an announcement about the launch on the platform.
HBO Max costs $9.99/month with ads or $14.99/month without ads. In addition to Fire TV, the app is available on Android TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, LG Smart TVs, Roku, Samsung Smart TVs, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, iOS and Android, and on the web.
